Loving and Living Your Destiny is Always Worth It (In his own words)

Resting at the base a huge oak tree, I reflect and ponder. I share these few moments that say volumes to the human spirit, to the risk-taker to the dreamer and the doer.

For every road there are bumps and turns that makes one feel anxious. We wonder whether the roads we’ve crossed a few miles back were ones we should have taken. We think how that path might have been smoother and less a challenging. Oh, how we want to feel the breeze of ease, where comfort brings no trouble.

Look at the salmon. They leave the comfort of their familiar streams to travel hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles out to sea. The salmon faces challenges from predators, changes in temperature, quality of water and man- made dangers. Now when the time comes for the salmon to swim upstream, they face an arduous journey. They swim hundreds of miles upstream to spawn in the streams where they were born.

Facing opposition brings on a spirit of purpose and determined will. Simply, we feel consumed with joy when we persevered through barriers to reach our goal. We feel worthy and fulfilled. We are empowered with a feeling that speaks to our souls; that we have conquered a part of this universe that was for us and no one else. Going for something that is especially for you is always worth it.

So never mind the salty taste of your own sweat, it has reached the side of your mouth. You have lost yourself in your work. Perhaps next time, you will be quicker to wipe your brow before it drips into your face. It just means that you’re demonstrating a dogged will to complete your purpose. These times, you are not concerned with how pretty you look. You are living and loving your destiny.

Henry D. Thoreau wrote:
I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. ...If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
--------------------------------------

So, I say to you today, don’t get discouraged when the way is rough. Don’t become distracted by the strenuous journey. Forget what people say. Serve the world notice that your dream is not just a dream, but a daily walk and a daily thought. It’s worth it!
